In 2023, the tunnel had 44 closures, while in 2022 it had 40, and in 2021 it had 64.

The application, submitted by O’Flynn Construction, proposes the development of 550 homes at a site to the north of Dunkettle House, as part of phase one of a larger project, which aims to see a major 1,036 home development at the site.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has confirmed that the N25 westbound route of the Dunkettle Interchange will be fully closed off for more than 24 hours later this month. 

In a progress update on the €215m project on Friday, the project team stated that steel fixing works are progressing well at structure ST03 and that the team is on track to cast this bridge deck by mid-April.

The incident occurred on the N40 southbound approach to the Jack Lynch tunnel from the Dunkettle Roundabout.
