High astronomical Spring tides may cause localised flooding along low-lying quays in the city centre in the coming days, Cork City Council has warned.

Minister Patrick O’Donovan met with Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork Damien Boylan at City Hall on Tuesday, along with city council and OPW officials, to discuss progress on a number of flood relief schemes in Cork that are at detailed design, planning and delivery stages.

It is understood that before a final contract could be signed the preferred bidder raised concerns at the impact construction inflation would have in developing the scheme
