It comes as secondary teachers’ union, the ASTI, called for a “a delayed and staggered reopening” of schools, which are set to return on Thursday.

The Standing Committee of the union, which represents around 18,500 secondary teachers, met today to assess the position regarding the reopening of schools in the context of the prevalence of Covid-19 nationwide.

Schools are expected to reopen as scheduled, despite growing concerns about the recent surge in daily reported Covid cases.
