A project of works to enhance both special education and mainstream facilities at Inchigeela National School is on track for completion by the end of the year.
The school has been approved under the additional school accommodation (ASA) scheme for a project that will deliver two new special education tuition (SET) rooms and a new mainstream classroom, along with ancillary accommodation to support these facilities.
A response by the Department of Education and Youth to a parliamentary question by Cork North West Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea confirmed that the project has now progressed to stage 4 (construction), with works advancing on site, and the project remains on track for completion by the end of 2026.
“This is a very positive development for Inchigeela and the wider community,” said Mr O’Shea. “These new facilities will make a meaningful difference for students, staff, and families in the community.
“The provision of two dedicated special education tuition rooms, alongside a new mainstream classroom, reflects the growing needs of the school and the importance of ensuring every child has access to the supports they require in an inclusive learning environment.”
