Scoil Mhuire Kanturk's recent performance of Sister Act.

Students from Scoil Mhuire in Kanturk brought the house down with several sold-out performances of 'Sister Act' last month.

The musical ran on the 10, 11 and 12 December, under the guidance of musical director Caitríona McNamara and assistant musical directors Sharon McCarthy and Rebekah O’ Sullivan.

The cast, comprising over 60 dedicated students from across the school, began preparations for the musical in early September.

To capture the energetic choreography of 'Sister Act', the cast worked closely with Cork city based choreographer Eimear James.

The backstage crew, set design and construction teams and the costume and make-up teams played a vital role, and the success of the 'Sister Act' musical was a testament to the incredible teamwork behind the scenes involving Scoil Mhuire Kanturk students, staff and parents.

Speaking at the end of the final performance, school principal, Garvan Queeney, thanked the local community and businesses of Kanturk for their incredible support in staging this musical.

He expressed his sincere gratitude to the staff and parents of Scoil Mhuire Kanturk for their spirit, commitment and dedication in making 'Sister Act' such a resounding success and reserved his highest praise for the students who made up the cast and crew, telling them how immensely proud he was of their achievements and the joy they brought to the stage.

The 2025 production of 'Sister Act' at Scoil Mhuire Kanturk continued a long-standing and cherished tradition of staging quality musical productions, dating back to 1987. The school community is already looking forward to their next musical production, planned for 2027.
