The single-vehicle incident happened between the junctions for Tyrellspass and Rochfortbridge on Thursday afternoon

The third occupant of the car has been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening

The road has been closed between junctions 23 and 24, for Gorey and Enniscorthy

Works on both the north and southbound lanes will take place between 10pm and 5am on the relevant dates

The incident occurred in Shanbally on the outskirts of Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick around 6.10pm on Sunday.

It is expected the works will take approximately one day to complete in each section
