A special event celebrating the life and legacy of Rory Gallagher is set for Cork City Hall this Sunday, while the Jazz Festival is in full swing, with Rory’s brother Dónal reading from his new book exclusively for ticket holders.
Dónal’s new book, Edged in Blue: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Odyssey with Rory Gallagher, co-written with Jamie Dickson, offers a rare personal insight into the life of one of Ireland’s greatest musical icons.
In the book, Dónal tells the story of the legendary guitarist’s extraordinary musical journey, from their childhood in Cork and the Irish showband scene to the international rock stages of the 1970s and beyond.
The event will precede Rory Gallagher: The Legend Lives On, part of the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival weekend.
Sunday afternoon’s celebration will see the Rory Gallagher tribute band, Moonchild, joined by Barry Barnes from Sinnerboy, alongside blues-rock trio Tres Hombres featuring Brian Tambling.
Tickets are available via Eventbrite from €22.50. Dónal’s reading is open only to concert ticket holders, with just 100 places available.
