The Gaza Monologues will be at Cobh Community Centre this Sunday.

The Gaza Monologues, a West Cork for Palestine touring production, is set to come to Cobh this weekend.

Originally developed in 2009 by Ashtar Theatre in Palestine, The Gaza Monologues brought together 20 young people who wrote about their lives and experiences in Gaza.

The testimonies were updated in 2024 and again recently. The production is directed by Palestinian film and theatre-maker Nasser AlSwirki, who said: “It’s a privilege to visit Cobh and present the updated The Gaza Monologues, accompanied by talented musicians and singers on the night.”

There will also be musical performances by Martin Leahy, Áine Duffy, Áine O’Gorman, Katrina O’Kane, Moze Jacobs, Mairéad Kelly, Gerry Kelly, Douglas Henderson, Noël O’Callaghan, Thaddeus Ó Buachalla and Victoria Keating. The show is on this Sunday, October 25, at 7.30pm at Cobh Community Centre. Profits from ticket sales will support both the North Cork Gaza Fund and Ashtar Theatre, helping to sustain the work of the theatre company.
