Cork County Council has confirmed its roads treatment programme will remain active today throughout Storm Goretti.
Met Éireann’s status yellow snow and rain warning for Cork is currently in place and will remain in effect until 8pm.
The national forecaster has said that possible impacts as a result of Storm Goretti include heavy rain, which will turn to sleet and snow in places particularly at elevation, leading to hazardous travelling conditions, spot flooding, poor visibility and icy patches.
Due to this period of unsettled weather, Cork County Council has announced that crews, working under its road's treatment programme, will continue treating priority routes as resources allow throughout the day.

However, a spokesperson for the council said that due to the low temperatures, probability of snow, and widespread icy patches, difficult travelling conditions can be expected over the coming days even on treated roads.
Additionally, Cork City Council has also confirmed that crews have been salting areas across the city over the last number of days, including main traffic routes and pedestrian areas.
The Local Authority is now reminding members of the public that salt bags are available to individuals and community groups who wish to treat their own local areas, which may be outside of priority treatment zones.
