Gardaí in Cork have arrested a man following the seizure of €38,000 worth of suspected drugs from a residence in Youghal on Friday night.
As part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the East Cork region, gardaí from the Cork County Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at the premises on Friday night at approximately 11.30pm.
During the course of the search, gardaí seized suspected cannabis, cocaine and MDMA with an estimated total value of €38,000.
The seized substances, consisting of approximately €24,000 worth of cannabis, €8,000 cocaine and €6,000 MDMA are subject to further analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.
The man, in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at a garda station in Co Cork under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
The spokesperson said the seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in July, 2021.
"The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs."
