Darragh received an invitation to the museum following his discovery of a 5,000-year-old arrowhead on Dunworley Beach in West Cork two years ago.

THIS week’s episode of Ireland’s Hidden Treasures will see 10-year-old Cork boy Darragh Kenny visit the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin’s city centre.

The episode will air on RTÉ One on Sunday, April 28, at 6.30pm, and will follow Darragh and his mum through the museum’s archaeology department.

Darragh received an invitation to the museum following his discovery of a 5,000-year-old arrowhead on Dunworley Beach in West Cork two years ago.

“At first I thought it might be a small bone or something, mainly because of the colour, which was lighter than most of the stones I usually find on the beach,” said Darragh.

The boy handed the arrowhead into the care of the National Museum’s assistant keeper Matthew Seaver who later issued the invitation for the child to see the process of how his arrowhead is catalogued and stored.

The show will also visit the Cork Public Museum, Ireland’s oldest regional museum, located in Fitzgerald Park.
