Cork basks in glorious sunshine but dry weather expected to break later this week

Cork was basking in glorious sunshine today with many keen to get out and about to enjoy the welcome change of weather.

Dry days have been a scarcity this month, with April dominated by unsettled weather including the latest storm to hit Ireland, Storm Kathleen.

The much-needed sunny spells are set to continue tomorrow, according to Met Éireann’s latest forecast.

Across Munster, it will be mostly cloudy at first but sunny spells will become fairly widespread by early afternoon.

It will be cooler than today with top temperatures of around 12 to 16 Celsius in light to moderate northerly winds.

Wednesday is expected to remain largely dry with sunny spells, however, the dry weather is expected to break on Thursday with some showers forecast.

Cork is likely to see further showers on Friday, with clear spells at times.

The outlook for next weekend is uncertain, Met Éireann has said.

“At the moment it looks like there will be a fair mount of dry weather on Saturday with a few showers,” the forecaster said.

“Sunday looks like being a cloudier day with outbreaks of rain.

“It will continue cool with temperatures of around 9 to 12 degrees.”
