Big tests ahead for early leaders in IAFC and Premier JFC

This year’s McCarthy Insurance Group IAFC and Premier JFC got off to a bang three weeks ago.
Strong early statements, tight contests and a few sides already under pressure have set the tone heading into Round 2.
This weekend offers a chance for some to push on while others look to steady themselves before the final-round arrives.
In the IAFC, Group 1 opened with emphatic wins for Buttevant and Kilmurry, each showing organisation, accuracy and control. Their meeting in Kanturk on Saturday evening already feels like a fixture that could tilt the group.
Buttevant’s early form suggests a team comfortable with their approach, while Kilmurry looked composed and assured in their opener. With both on two points, this is a significant test of depth and consistency.
Behind them, Ilen Rovers and Glanworth meet in Shanbally, each looking to rebound after defeats.
Group 2 also produced clear early separation, with Mitchelstown and St Finbarr’s second team beginning with wins. Their meeting in Mourneabbey on Saturday evening is one of the round’s standout ties.
Earlier in the day, Dromtarriffe and Gabriel Rangers meet in Cill na Martra, each aiming to respond after opening-round losses.
Group 3 saw Boherbue and Adrigole begin with wins, and both looked composed and well-balanced. They meet in Dunmanway on Saturday evening in a fixture that could define the group.
Boherbue’s early form suggests a team comfortable with their structure, while Adrigole would have been content with how they managed the win against Bandon.
Kildorrery and Bandon clash in Ballyanly on Sunday, each looking to rebound after defeats.
Bandon will be keen to reset after dropping down from the grade above last year.
In the Premier JFC, Round 1 produced strong wins for Cullen and Kinsale in Group 1, and they now meet in Ballincollig on Saturday afternoon. The quality of Luke Murphy could be key for Cullen.
St Vincent’s and Millstreet clash in Donoughmore on Sunday. Blake Murphy is back for St Vincent's having been abroad.
Group 2 saw Cobh begin with a win, while Glenville and Urhan shared the points. Cobh now face Glenville in Lisgoold on Saturday evening in a game that could prove crucial.
Urhan take on Inniscarra in Kealkill earlier in the day, with both sides aiming to stay in the mix after competitive Round 1 displays.
Group 3 produced emphatic wins for Canovee and Kilmacabea, and their meeting in Kilmichael on Sunday afternoon is one of the weekend’s marquee ties. Two teams expected to go very deep this year.
St Nick's and Na Piarsaigh lock horns at St Vincent’s, each looking to respond after opening-round defeats. Their challenge is to find more consistency.
