Cork boxers Danny Keating, Cathal Crowley and Aaron Crowley in top form
Cork Boxing: Aaron O’Donoghue after he beat Marian Wesolowske in a welterweight contest at Leopardstown Racecourse.
There was joy for three Cork professional boxers as Danny Keating, Cathal Crowley and Aaron Crowley all won their fights.
Danny 'Dannyboy' Keating successfully defended his WBC Australian Welterweight title to remain unbeaten and move 12-0 with a unanimous decision victory against the tough Australian native Jyl Wright at the Fortitude Music Hall in Queensland in Australia.
Keating used all his experience and boxing skills in this fight. He certainly wasn’t afraid to mix it up with his opponent to get the job done with another superb display that was live on DAZN TV.
This was also a huge test for him, as he was coming back after surgery to reconstruct the knuckles on his right hand. However, he came through this fight with flying colours and is now looking forward to testing himself to the very best globally.
“It was a good fight from start to finish and pace over the eight rounds was very high,” Danny said.
“It was a tough fight, but I was in control for all the rounds.
"However my opponent wanted to drag me into a war. I certainly didn’t say no to that as I wanted to send my loyal fans home happy.
“I’m very happy with my performance considering I was out of the ring for a little while after my surgery and to come back straight into a hard fight to defend my title was very pleasing,” Keating added.

Cathal Crowley also had success in Gibraltar when he stopped Spanish native Fran Verdeguer in the fourth round in a Light Heavyweight contest to move 9-1 in his career to date.
This was another step in the right direction as he is still building on every performance and hopes to fight for another title before the end of the year.
He controlled this fight from the very first bell by landing some very heavy shots that rocked the Spaniard in the opening couple of rounds.
Crowley moved up the gears in the next two rounds and had his opponent in all sorts of trouble early in the fourth round that gave the referee no option but to stop the fight.
"I was really happy with my performance, got a good four rounds in which I controlled the fight from start to finish,” Cathal said.
"The fight ended it when I saw the opportunity and I unloaded some heavy shots that gave the referee no option but to stop the fight.
"I am looking forward to what comes next and I will be hoping to fight for a title, however, I’ll be ready and waiting for whatever comes my way,” said a very satisfied Crowley.
Aaron 'the Storm' O’Donoghue went 6-0, to remain unbeaten with a fourth round stoppage in his Welterweight contest against Polish fighter at the JB Promotions card at the Leopardstown race course last Friday night.
It was a very polished performance from O’Donoghue as he had his opponent in all sorts of problems throughout the fight and the referee called a halt to proceedings two minutes into the fourth round.
Aaron is now setting his sights on a Celtic Title fight against Tony McGynn or Cian Duggan in the coming months, especially after another dominant display in the Capital.
"The fight went the way I wanted and I used my boxing when the opportunity came for the stoppage,” Aaron said.
"I felt very comfortable in there tonight and I was able to up the gears and get him out of there early.
"I felt the first round went my way and boxed behind my jab and I listened to Shane Cunningham, John O’Driscoll and Patrick O’Sullivan to not to get involved in anything silly.
"The second and third rounds I started sitting on my shots a bit more and started to hurt him, so in the fourth round I went through the gears and was able to get a good stoppage.
"I had verbally agreed a title fight for September 26. The opponent pulled out so hopefully we get a replacement and I still fight for the Celtic title that night,” O’Donoghue added.
