Bride Rovers have booked their place in the final of the East Cork JAHC Final following a deserved victory over St Ita's at Dungourney on Friday night.

Level at the interval, Rovers moved four points ahead midway through the second half before it almost came crashing down upon them.

Ciaran O'Brien converted a 65, Seamus Harnedy was cool as a cucumber with the next 0-6 from play, and then came what looked like the game-changing moment.

Daniel Hickey, who finished up with 1-4, was on hand to pounce on a breaking ball to fire to the back of the net to put his side in front on 50 minutes: 1-15 to 1-14.

It was level again when the impressive Shaun Knox converted a free and he had Bride Rovers back in front this time from a 65. They moved three clear when Cormac Barry raised two white flags.

Ita's had their chances but Hickey missed two crucial frees on the bounce which he would normally put over... small margins.

The favourites actually only led on three occasions, though that included after Hickey's late goal. In the end, Rovers' second team pulled off a huge upset.

Ita's opening score was cancelled within an instant when Knox fired to the back of the net. His free after 13 minutes put them 1-5 to 0-3 ahead.

Ita's got motoring through as they outscored the Rovers by 0-7 to 0-1 to put them a point ahead by the 27th minute 0-10 to 1-6.

Cormac Barry leveled up the game on the stroke of half-time from a free.

The second half was end-to-end with both sides going score for score level on 38 minutes when Cathal Deane pointed a monstrous effort.

Jake Heagarty also added his name to the score sheets but when the game was in the melting pot the Rovers showed great character.
