In a high scoring Dennehy’s Health & Fitness First Division encounter at Mayfield Community School last Sunday afternoon, the host’s Kevin O’Brien and DCT’s Eoin Field shared early goals before Jack Murphy and Luke O’Sullivan performed a similar feat going into the last seventeen minutes

Sean Holmes’ 83rd minute penalty restored the home team’s lead for the third time and was followed by a fourth from Callan Dempsey and an own goal in the last two minutes.

ISF Ballyphehane Celtic 4

Ballyphehane Celtic joined Sabor Brazil Giants at the top courtesy of a four goal win over promoted Council at Crosshaven last Saturday. 

Jamie Thompson set up Sean Moynihan for the first after six minutes sub Tadhg Shanahan combined with Michael Barry to add a second in the 59th minute. 

Thompson was again the provider seven minutes later when he put Barry in for a third before player-manager James Corcoran laid on a fourth for Mohamed Vangahun with ten minutes remaining.

The LAB lost ground in the title race when they were held to a scoreless draw by Abbey Business at Corinthians Park last Saturday afternoon.

Cork Hospitals 0

In-form Helio Inter Cork recorded back to back six-nil wins over Cork Hospitals following their impressive performance in the late Sunday afternoon kick-off at Mayfield Park. 

Juan De Villa set the ball rolling with the opener after five minutes. 

Ivan Milicevic got in for a second in the 21st minute before Gabriel Peña Da Silva added a third six minutes before the break. 

There was still time for Jose Oliveira Guerra to plunder a killer fourth on the stroke of half-time. 

Milicevic scored a fifth on the changeover leaving Peña Da Silva to round off the scoring with his second of the afternoon on the hour mark.

Arc Rovers 10

Two teams in need of a boost met at James Kenneally Sports Centre last Saturday lunchtime. 

At the end of ninety minutes Rovers came away the happiest after romping to a comprehensive win over last season’s Mooney Cup winners. 

An early brace from Raúl Martinez and a third from Ian Leahy separated the teams at half-time. 

After Conor Ryan got in for a fourth in the 48th minute the floodgates opened for Ryan to score again along with two each for Sean Blake, Gregg Harrington and Christian Bidaga and one apiece from subs Rob Coughlan and Alex Kelly. 

Michael Coffey’s response for the Barbers came with ten minutes left on the clock.

No Sin Second Division:

AL Ukraine 5 

Stryker Macroom 0

Ukraine ran out deserving winners after five second-half goals from Alim Khametov (2), Oleg Iakoulev, Oleksandr Topolnytskyi and Vladyslav Skubak registered a third win in the campaign.

The final act say the introduction of Vadym Horobets off the bench for Ukraine. 

Horobets had previously give sterling service to Abtran and UCC United throughout a chequered career in the league.

ePower 3 

Pfizer FC 2

Goals from Ryan Murray and Daragh Bagnell Hartnett for ePower in the first half hour were cancelled out by Timothy Healy and Francisco Perez Ocana. 

Murray struck again with eight minutes left to decide the destination of all three points.

OBS 11 

MSL Engineering 2

OBS extended their lead at the top to a whopping eleven points by showing no mercy to debutants MSL Engineering. 

An incredible first 45 produced thirteen goals with Niall O’Brien grabbing a hat-trick, Shane Barry and Sean Blake, two each and Lee Maher, Ross Daly and Anthony O’Reilly also among the goals. 

John Maartin Lehane and Cian O’Sullivan had earlier brought the scores back to 3-3 after six minutes.

Grattan United 2

Premier leaders were without key strikers Jamie Murphy and Tony O’Reilly going into the northside derby at a wet Mayfield Park last Sunday morning. 

Adam Lee-Reynold’s 2nd minute lead for the visitors was cancelled out by new signing, former Helio Inter Cork and DHF Grangevale striker, who combined with Aaron Hennessy to beat James Byrne.

Anthony Byrne restored the AUL side’s lead in the 61st minute which was enough to secure a passage to the second round.

McCarthy Insurance Munster Junior Shield – First Round:

Strand United ‘B’ 0 

Fisherman’s Rest Valley Rangers 4

Valley went three up inside fifteen first-half minutes at O’Brien Park courtesy of ace marksman Kevin Kelleher, John Noonan and Cian Doyle. 

The AUL outfit laid siege on the visitor’s goal but were undone for a fourth time by a late Michael Witnik goal two minutes from time.
