Carrigaline GAA, LGFA, and Camogie clubs will benefit from a unique ‘A Style Soirée’ three-club fundraiser taking place today.

Having just qualified for the McCarthy Insurance Group Cork Senior A county final, Carrigaline’s on-pitch prospects are looking up.

The same is true off the pitch as the proceeds of this fundraiser will help upgrade facilities with a particular emphasis on catering for the club’s female players.

Taking place in the club’ hall, a runway fashion show, music, food and drinks, best-dressed prizes, and a raffle are just some of the highlights of a sold-out ‘A Style Soirée’ event.

“This is a ladies-only fundraising event where the centre-piece will be a fashion show,” organising committee member Gillian Murphy said.

“A combination of local and professional models will showcase fashion from six shops in Carrigaline and the surrounding areas.

“We are using this fundraiser to upgrade our playing facilities. That’s why it is great to have the three clubs merged in our fundraising,” said organising committee member Sarah Murphy.

“We have to give a big shout-out to all of our sponsors who have really made this event happen for us,” Murphy commented.

“Their generosity, through buying tickets, donations and providing us with what’s needed to host an event like this, for example, our Prosecco reception, we would not be able to put on such a fantastic day out without their support.

In particular, we have to give special thanks to our main club sponsor, Stephen McCarthy of Astra Construction in Carrigaline, who is so generous to our club.

“His generosity has allowed our club to dream big. Without people like Stephen in our community, clubs like ours couldn’t continue to grow. So, we are very grateful for his support.

ONE CLUB

“Carrigaline is one of the biggest clubs in Cork and we are merging into one club for this event.

“This event is bringing all the businesses in Carrigaline and its GAA, LGFA and camogie clubs closer together,” Lorna O’Driscoll, another hardworking committee member, said.

Carrigaline has a huge population that is still growing. From our experience of organising this fundraising event, the willingness and support of local businesses has been overwhelming.

“Every business’s front door we knocked on responded positively. Nobody said no to us They bought VIP tickets, made donations or gave generous prizes for our raffle.

“Having seen all the prizes gathered for the big day, we want to buy all the tickets for ourselves!”

Carrigaline GAA, LGFA and camogie clubs’ ‘A Style Soirée’ event throws in on Saturday at 2.30pm in the Carrigaline GAA hall.
