Éamonn Murphy was joined for an Echo Sport Podcast special, in association with Blackwater Motors Group, by Cork hurlers Patrick Horgan and Shane Kingston.

Cork hurling stars Shane Kingston and Patrick Horgan join Éamonn Murphy in the studio for a special Echo Sport Podcast, brought to you in association with Blackwater Motors Group.

The Rebel duo were key figures in this summer's dramatic run to the All-Ireland hurling final when Pat Ryan's side went from being on the brink of elimination in the Munster Championship to a puck of a sliotar away from lifting Liam MacCarthy.

They look back at injury issues and controversial refereeing decisions as well as taking the positives from an epic campaign. The connection with the supporters was a major element and they explain how the Cork-Limerick game in the Páirc was the loudest they'd ever experienced.

The dynamic Rebel forwards also look ahead to the club action in the coming weeks. Glen Rovers are favourites to return to Premier Senior but know there are some tough tests ahead with the likes of Blarney, Bride Rovers and Na Piarsaigh in the SAHC, while Douglas must beat Newtownshandrum to reach the PSHC quarter-finals.

Hoggie and Kingston talk about the differences between club and inter-county preparation and in-game demands, they also reveal their highs and lows, what club defenders are the toughest to be marked by and which players in their clubs they looked up to as youngsters.

They tell us about their favourite boots, why they opted for the helmet colours they use and what pre-match rituals they have.

What makes a hurley special? How much gym work is required in-season? How long can you put the hurley down in the off-season?

They talk about the other sports they most enjoy watching, and how they unwind away from the pitch, from music to the cinema, including Horgan's love of Coldplay and Kingston's trip to see Deadpool & Wolverine.

Find out about their previous lives as soccer defenders and togging out as footballers in club championship.

This special episode was brought to you by Blackwater Motors Group, made up of the following brands Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, at locations in Cork city, Skibbereen, Fermoy and Tralee.
