CORK City Women’s national league game against Treaty United will now go ahead in Turner’s Cross on Saturday, May 4 after the confirmation by the Munster Football Association (MFA) that the pitch at will reopen for action on Wednesday, May 1.

This is a very important game for the club as it will be the first time that the women’s first team will appear live on TV with the match being broadcast by TG4.

City’s men’s upcoming fixtures in the League of Ireland First Division sees them travel to Finn Harps and Kerry before they finally return to their home pitch on bank holiday Monday, May 6 against Wexford at 5pm after a run of four away trips in a row.

The playing surface at the home of football in Cork suffered severe damage during Cork City’s 3-0 victory over local rivals Cobh Ramblers due to the horrendous weather on Leeside.

As a result, Cork City’s Men’s and Women’s teams were forced to have the venues of their respective league fixtures reversed during that time.

But on Tuesday afternoon, the MFA announced that the Cross will host the upcoming Munster Youth Cup final between Carrigaline United and College Corinthians next Wednesday night, May 1 at 7.30pm and it is understood this will be the first game played on the refurbished surface.
