A free event, aimed at promoting marine conservation, will take place in West Cork this week.
The event, hosted by members of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG), comes as part of a nationwide roadshow featuring in-person workshops across a range of coastal communities in Ireland.
The roadshow is being hosted in collaboration with Fair Seas, which is a coalition of environmental organisations and networks campaigning to secure a science-led network of effective marine protected areas (MPAs) in Irish waters.
The aim of the event is to highlight the latest developments in marine conservation and the future of Ireland’s seas.
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with IWDG and Fair Seas representatives; learn more about Ireland’s marine wildlife and habitats; understand current and proposed MPAs; and hear about national marine policy developments. Marine policy and advocacy officer with the IWDG, Eva Lambert, said citizen science is at the heart of everything they do.
The Cork event will take place at CECAS in Leap from 5.30pm to 8pm on Wednesday.
Tickets for the free event can be reserved at: https://www.eventbrite.ie.
