A WELL-DRILLED Cill na Martra moved into the Premier Intermediate Football quarter-finals after they cruised to a comfortable win over Na Piarsaigh in Cloughduv.

The Muskerry men put some beautiful sequences of play together and many of those concluded in scores while Shane Ó Duinnín and Micheál Ó Deasúna were two men on a mission.

Despite Na Piarsaigh scoring the opening goal, a powerful strike from Kevin O’Meara, the first half belonged to Cill na Martra.

A push on Ó Duinnín granted Martra a penalty after a quarter of an hour. Micheál Ó Deasúna stepped up and slotted it home with composure.

Five minutes later two more of the Ó Duinníns were involved in a major moment. This time Daniel Ó Duinnín came onto a lay-off from Ciarán Ó Duinnín and fired it home to give his side a seven-point advantage.

The first-half drama did not end there though. In what was surely supposed to be a pass to a Na Piarsaigh forward, Alan Hogan’s looping ball ended up in the net to the surprise of everyone with three minutes to go before the short whistle: 2-10 to 2-4.

The second half was stop-start. An injury to Cill na Martra midfielder Antón Ó Cuana halted play for nearly 10 minutes and a detrimental black card and red card double for Na Piarsaigh meant the evening would only go from bad to worse. Gordon Joyce received a second yellow while Ross O’Sullivan saw black for back-chatting.

Críostóir Ó Meachair palmed the ball into an empty net to extend the lead and Man of the Match Shane Ó Duinnín bagged two goals.
