Cork City assistant manager David Meyler has left the club to take up a new position with the Hull U21 team.

Meyler was previously involved with Hull at U15 level before he was appointed as U18 assistant manager for the 2024/25 season.

He was then involved with Ireland's underage international teams before Meyler came back to Cork City to work with former manager Ger Nash who then left the club in November 2025.

Meyler was part of Barry Robson's coaching staff up until this week, working as his assistant coach.

Hull will begin their life in the Premier League against Man United at home at the end of August.

Meanwhile, Cork City have confirmed that Donal O’Connor has signed a contract extension with the club, to the end of the 2029 season.

The central defender made his first team debut against Treaty United at the end of May, and has started the last three league games for Barry Robson’s side.

Speaking after putting pen to paper on his new deal, O'Connor said: "I’m absolutely buzzing and proud to have signed this new contract.

"I’m looking forward to continuing to work hard, train hard every day and keep improving."

Commenting on the news, Cork City manager Barry Robson said: “We are really pleased that Donal has signed a new contract.

"He has been in and around the first team picture for the last few months and, as everyone knows, he has come into the side over the last few weeks and done very well.

"Now that he has finished school, this is an opportunity for him to come in with us on a full-time basis and we are really looking forward to seeing more of him.

"He still has a lot to learn, but he is a player with a lot of potential and we are really pleased that he has committed to the club.”
