Sean O'Mahony will play in the City Library at 11am tomorrow morning.

Cork musician and songwriter Sean O'Mahony is to perform a free concert of traditional and folk music in City Library this Saturday as part of the Cork Folk Festival 2026.

Based in Newcestown, near Bandon, Mr O’Mahony has performed throughout Ireland and Europe with groups including The Potbelly Folk Band and The Poachers.

This concert will feature original songs spanning five decades of songwriting, from compositions written in 1976 to a brand-new song completed in 2026, 'Katie's Lane'. He will be joined by Eoin O'Mahony on banjo and backing vocals.

A founding member of both Comhaltas Baile Nuis and Cork Songwriters, Sean O’Mahony is influenced by folk, traditional Irish music, blues and country.

The concert will take place on Saturday 10 October from 11am to 12pm, in The Rory Gallagher Music Library on Grand Parade. All are welcome, and no booking is required - contact music_library@corkcity.ie or 02 1492 4919 for more information.

The performance will be followed by more free concerts in the city centre library including an afternoon of story time and songs with singer-songwriter Enda McCabe from 1pm to 2pm.

A Dubliner who spent years living in England before returning home to Ireland, Mr McCabe has performed across Ireland, Britain and the United States.

At 3pm, Kevin and Geraldine Gill will perform a mix of original songs, traditional favourites and instrumentals.

The free concerts are part of a wider programme of events for the 47th edition of the Cork Folk Festival from 8 to 11 October.
