A lucky Cork Lotto player is celebrating a potential life-changing windfall after scooping a jackpot of €5,664,896 in Wednesday night’s draw — and the winning ticket was bought at Mahon Point Shopping Centre.
The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Eason on Tuesday, October 6, the National Lottery confirmed.
The mystery winner has become Ireland’s 25th National Lottery millionaire of 2026 and the sixth person from Cork to reach millionaire status through the lottery this year.
Eason store manager Eimear O’Donovan said the news had given the Mahon Point team another reason to celebrate.
“To hear that one of our customers is the winner of a Lotto jackpot worth over €5.6 million is just incredible,” she said.
“The thought that the winning ticket could be sitting in someone’s pocket, handbag or at home right now is hugely exciting.”

Ms O’Donovan encouraged customers to check their tickets, adding that the win was particularly special after the store was named Eason Store of the Year this year.
“After being named Eason Store of the Year this year, this really is the icing on the cake and another brilliant reason for our team to celebrate.”
National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Orr urged anyone who bought a Lotto ticket at the store on Tuesday to check it carefully.
“A Lotto player in Cork may be going about their day with no idea that the ticket in their possession is worth over €5.6 million,” she said.
“We are asking anyone who visited Mahon Point Shopping Centre on Tuesday and bought their Wednesday night Lotto ticket at the Eason store to check those tickets as soon as possible.” The winning numbers in Wednesday, October 7’s Lotto draw were 3, 17, 26, 29, 37 and 42, with 38 as the bonus number.
The winner is advised to sign the back of their ticket, keep it somewhere safe and contact the National Lottery Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222.
“We look forward to welcoming them to Lottery Headquarters to celebrate what is sure to be a truly unforgettable win,” Ms Orr said.
