'Full gamut' experience promised to public visiting Cork's Nano Nagle Place during Heritage Week 

Discounted entry to Nano Nagle Place will be available from August 15 to 23 as part of Heritage Week, with self-guided tours for €5 throughout the week.

Census records form the basis for an opening talk on the history of the South Parish and, in the closing session, the digitised registers of South Pres Primary School offer a window into life in the classroom for late 18th- and early 19th-century students.

Writer and actress Judie Chalmers channels Nano Nagle herself to paint a picture of Cork in the time of the Penal Laws and the challenges women faced at that point in history.

David Ryan explores the 1926 Census records of Cork's South Parish, offering an insight into the people, households and community that shaped the area during this landmark year.

Elsewhere in the programme, Foclóir Collage celebrates our linguistic heritage by exploring Irish words and phrases through colour, texture and creativity in a bilingual workshop suitable for those with fluent Gaeilge or just the cúpla focail.
