Blackpool Shopping Centre will host a pop-up Heart Failure Awareness Roadshow on May 6 that is aimed at raising public awareness of heart failure and promoting early detection.

Taking place from 10am-2pm, members of the public visiting the event can avail of free blood pressure and heart health checks in the Croí mobile health unit. There will be specialist heart failure nurses on hand to offer advice on recognising signs and symptoms, information on living with heart failure, and signposting the public to local support services.

The event is part of a two-week roadshow of events across nine locations that is being co-ordinated by the Irish Heart Foundation.

Speaking ahead of the roadshow, Angie Brown, medical director at the Irish Heart Foundation, said knowledge and symptom recognition of heart failure remains low among the general public: “This is why raising awareness at a community level is critical. By meeting people on streets, in shopping centres, and local hubs, we can make heart health information more accessible and impactful.”
