Upgrade works to car park and visitor facilities at popular natural amenity welcomed by Cork TD

A €40,000 upgrade to the car park and visitor facilities at the foot of Musheramore mountain between Millstreet and Macroom has been completed.

The project, which was supported by the funding under the government’s Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme, involved the upgrade and repair of the existing base car park at Finnanfield, Kilcorney, which is also known as Seefin car park.

The location serves as the principal access point for the Musheramore mountain trail and also forms part of the Duhallow Way and Blackwater Way walking routes.

The completed works also include the installation of a new visitor information map, directional signage, along with important safety and warning signage for walkers using the trail network.

Cork North West Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea said that the completion of the project is much welcomed for the renowned routes.

“Musheramore attracts walkers, families and visitors from across the region throughout the year.

“The upgraded car park, together with the new information board and safety signage, will make the area more accessible, more welcoming and safer for everyone using the trails.

“The scheme continues to make a real difference in rural Ireland by improving amenities that support healthy lifestyles, sustainable tourism and local economies.”

Local Fine Gael councillor Gerry Healy added: “This is a wonderful improvement for the Musheramore area and for everyone who enjoys walking and exploring our beautiful countryside.”
