Passengers travelling on Cork Iarnród Éireann services over the St Brigid’s bank holiday weekend are being advised to plan accordingly for disruption due to engineering works.

The disruption is part of the Cork Area Commuter Rail Programme, and will include includes bridge renewal and resignalling works.

There will be bus transfers in operation on the Cork to Cobh, Midleton and Mallow services across from Saturday through to Monday.

There will be bus transfers in place between Thurles and Cork/Kerry on Saturday. Bus transfers will also be in operation between Charleville and Cork/Kerry on Sunday and Monday.

Disruptions

A spokesperson for Iarnród Éireann said that while the vast majority of works will take place overnight or in a way that will see little or no impact on services, disruptions will be unavoidable in some instances.

“In particular, this will happen if infrastructure teams are replacing or improving essential infrastructure like tracks, bridges, signalling, overhead lines or helping third parties with major plans.

“Iarnród Éireann works to ensure that any such disruption is minimised, and that the number of customers affected is minimised too.”

The company is advising all passengers to check the Journey Planner before travelling and to allow extra time for journeys.

Full information on all rail services over the bank holiday weekend is available at www.irishrail.ie and the Iarnród Éireann app.
