West Cork choir performs at Glen Hansard's funeral in Dublin

A Cork choir was among the list of big musical names who performed at the funeral of Glen Hansard on Tuesday in Dublin.
The funeral service began with Críost Liom, sung by Peadar Ó Riada and Cór Chúil Aodha (the West Cork Gaeltacht male choir), which also sung at the funeral of Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan in late 2023.
The funeral for the singer, who died in a motorcycle accident last week, took place in Saint Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin, and hundreds of fans gathered outside the venue to watch the broadcast of the funeral.
The mass was officiated by Very Revd Dr William Morton, and also featured readings and music by Bono, Damien Dempsey, The Frames, Colm Mac Con Iomaire, Séamus Ong, Liam Ó Maonlaí, Eddie Vedder, Marketa Irglova, Thomas Bartlett, Frank Killeen, Lisa O'Neill, Joseph Doyle, Michael Buckley and family members of Mr Hansard.
His wife, Finnish poet Maire Saaritsa, gave an emotional speech, thanking the gardaí who attended to her husband at the scene of the crash.
