It will begin to look a lot like Christmas in Cork from tomorrow evening, when the Corkmas parade takes place in the city.
The parade marks the official launch of the Christmas season in Cork and features the switching-on of the city’s Christmas lights.
Naturally Santa Claus will be among the special guests and the parade promises to be a vibrant and family-friendly affair, with floats, performers and marching bands. The Butter Exchange Band and Barrack Street Band will be among those providing festive music.

Beginning on North Main Street at 7pm, the parade will proceed along Washington Street and Patrick Street.
There will be road closures and traffic diversions in place for the parade, and motorists should plan their journeys in advance and follow Garda directions.
The Cork City Park & Ride service will be extended to 10pm on the night of the parade.
The Corkmas Parade is the kick-off event for several other seasonal activities happening throughout the city.

A festive market will be set up at Emmet Place, which will include artisan crafts, local produce and food. The festival market will be in operation from Thursday through Sunday, from November 21 to December 22. Also at Emmet Place visitors will be able to find the Santa Experience.
The iconic Ferris Wheel and vintage carousel will once again take pride of place on the Grand Parade from November 28.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, a packed programme of free family friendly events and live music performances will bring the city centre to life during the month of December, with more details to be revealed over the coming weeks.
