Cork Foyer was filled with festive excitement this week as Santa Claus paid a special visit to meet 450 children from 20 preschools and schools across the city’s northside.

The festive event, organised and run by Cork City Council in partnership with Housing Cork Foyer, Cork City Partnership, Cork City Childcare and Churchfield Trust, brought Christmas magic to children who travelled from schools throughout the northside to enjoy a day of seasonal celebration.

It took place at the Cork Foyer, located on Assumption Road in Blackpool, which offers young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, quality affordable accommodation, with education, training and support.

Each child had the opportunity to meet Santa, share their Christmas wishes, play in the playground, and take part in a festive experience.

The event highlighted the strong sense of community across Cork’s northside, with schools, staff and volunteers coming together to ensure every child enjoyed a memorable start to the Christmas season.

A spokesperson for Cork City Council said: “This visit was all about creating moments of joy and togetherness for children in our community. Seeing the excitement on their faces when Santa arrived made all the hard work worthwhile.

“A big thank you to the volunteers, supporters, and staff who helped make the day such a success and ensured that 450 children experienced the magic of Christmas.”
