Temperatures are expected to reach 24C this week in Cork, and Met Éireann has published its climate statement for June, showing that it was one of the warmest Junes on record since 1900.
The statement, released last week, showed that all weather stations across the country recorded mean temperatures above their long-term average (LTA), 1991-2020.
This was due to a dome of high pressure that built over mainland Europe during the final third of the month, which contributed to the high temperatures in Ireland throughout June.
The average temperature for June 2025, using the island of Ireland dataset, was approximately 15.1C, making it the fourth-warmest June on record since 1900.
In addition to high temperatures, most stations nationwide also saw rainfall above average, with the national forecaster stating that rainfall grew by 117% over the LTA for Ireland overall, marking June 2025 as the 24th wettest since 1941.
Rainfall
Despite above average rainfall recordings, Met Éireann said that it was driest in the south of the country, with Cork recording the month’s lowest monthly rainfall, totalling 47mm at Cork Airport.
Warm weather conditions are expected to continue in to July, with temperatures predicted to reach up to 24C this week in Cork.
The week will start off dry and remain so well in to the weekend, with spells of sunshine predicted throughout Cork city and county.
Highest temperatures of 17C to 24C are expected on Monday, and will continue throughout the entire week, maintaining a steady temperature of between 21C and 23C in to the weekend.
Lowest temperatures forecast for Cork this week are between 12C and 14C, which will be seen overnight or in the early hours of the morning.
