Fans of Cork City who can't make it to the side's away games during this year's battle for the Premier League title will be able to see their favourite team on the big screen here on Leeside thanks to a new partnership which has been announced between the club and The Arc Cinema.

In a first for a League Of Ireland club, the fans of Cork City will be able to experience the away games in the most immersive way possible thanks to the cinema's cutting edge facilities which include a giant curved screen and Dolby Atmos surround sound.

The club kicked off its first season back in the Premier Division after last year's First Division title win with a 2-2 draw against Galway United in front of an attendance of more than 5,000 and is travelling to take on Shamrock Rovers in Dublin on Sunday.

Other glamour ties to get the big screen treatment include a clash with Waterford on March 3 and a fixture with last year's champions, Shelbourne FC, on March 14.

The agreement also means that there will be a 30-second Cork City FC trailer before every movie at The Arc Cinema, on North Main St in Cork city.

Cork City FC commercial manager Anthony O'Sullivan said this was "a really exciting year for the club" as they would be taking on Premier Division teams.

"We expect to see large turnouts at Turner’s Cross for all the home games," he said.

"The support from City fans has remained solid throughout the years, and we know that while many of them would like to go to the away games, the distance means it’s not always possible.

"This new partnership will give them an opportunity to see some of those games on the big screen along with a crowd—which is a first for any League of Ireland football team.”

Aoibhín Gallagher, the assistant manager of The Arc Cinema, described Cork City FC as "a huge part of the culture of Cork".

"We are really looking forward to showing some of the big away games on the big screen, where people can enjoy all the action along with fellow supporters, which we believe will create a family-fun atmosphere for those who are not in a position to travel," she said.
