The man in his 40s was arrested and charged following the incident at a retail premises in Summerhill North on Tuesday.

The incident occurred shortly after 12 noon when a man entered the store and threatened staff with a knife before making off with a sum of cash.

Gardaí in Cork have arrested and charged a man in his 40s in connection with a robbery at a retail premises in Summerhill North, Cork City on Tuesday. 

The incident occurred shortly after 12 noon when a man entered the store and threatened staff with a knife before making off with a sum of cash.

In response to the incident, Detective Gardaí from Watercourse Road arrested a man in his 40s. 

He was subsequently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Cork City and has since been charged. 

He is scheduled to appear before Cork District Court this morning.

A garda spokesperson said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
