Man stabbed in Cork city on Thursday afternoon

Gardai are investigating an incident in which a man was stabbed in Cork city.

He is understood to have been involved in an altercation with two other men.

While he was rushed from the scene to hospital, his injuries are not life threatening.

The incident happened earlier today and led to Garda Armed Support Unit ​officers being called to attend.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí attended the scene of an assault on Clontarf Street, Cork City shortly before 3pm​, following reports of a disturbance involving a group of individuals.

​"A male aged in his 40s was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening. No persons have been arrested in connection with this incident. Investigation is ongoing.​"
