A Cork man who starred in the independent Irish film, A Simple Killing, will travel to the US this weekend for the movie premiere in California.

Innishannon-based actor, Aidan O’Callaghan, who has previously starred in hit TV-series’ The Witcher and Eastenders, will attend the Newport Beach Film Festival on October 19, making his first film credit debut.

The thriller, written by Mark Conway and directed by Jason Branagan, follows the lives of two women who come together in unfortunate circumstances, with Mr O’Callaghan starring as Terry, one of the womens’ abusive partner.

Speaking on the film, Mr O’Callaghan said: “This character was a tough one to tackle, and pushed me to explore even darker facets of my acting range that I’ve tackled in the past.

“Bringing Terry to life was both challenging and rewarding, [and] I had the pleasure of working alongside the incredible Daphne Cheung and Claire Gavin, and together we dove deep into the complex relationships that drive this story.”
