The two men are due to appear before Bantry District Court at 2pm this afternoon. 

Two men are due to appear before a sitting of Bantry District court this afternoon in connection with a serious assault in West Cork on Saturday evening.

Gardaí said two men in their 30s who were injured during the incident were taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.

The injured men were said to be in a serious but stable condition.

Following the incident two men, one aged in his 30s the other in his 70s, were arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

They have since been charged by gardaí and are due to appear before a sitting of Bantry District Court at 2pm this afternoon.

Meanwhile, gardaí are appealing to anyone with information in relation to this incident to come forward, in particular anyone who was in the Ballyhalwick, Dunmanway, area between 6pm and 8pm on Saturday evening.

“Anyone who has camera footage (including dash cam) from Ballyhalwick, Dunmanway during this timeframe is asked to make this available to Gardaí.
