A second teenager has died following the collision between a bus and an e-scooter in Waterford city which happened in the early hours of the morning.
A second teenager has died following the collision between a bus and an e-scooter in Waterford city which happened in the early hours of the morning.
Gardaí attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving a bus and an e-scooter that occurred shortly before 2:10am today on the R680 Cork Road in Waterford city.
One person travelling on the e-scooter, a male teenager, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second male youth in his teens, who was also travelling on the e-scooter, was taken to Waterford University Hospital with serious injuries.
He passed away as a result of his injuries earlier this afternoon, a Garda spokesperson confirmed.
“A technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators has been completed and the road has re-opened.
“A Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been assigned to provide support to the families at this time,” the spokesperson added.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the Cork Road in Waterford city between 1:45am and 2:15am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
