EFFIE Neill from Ardgroom, Beara, in West Cork is among eight emerging country singers competing for the title of Ireland’s Glór Tíre Country Music Champion 2024.
The Cork woman will appear on the first episode of season 20 on TG4, airing Tuesday March 12 at 9.30pm, and will be accompanied by mentor and musician Michael English.
“It was always my goal to be on this show, as it’s a great platform to build your musical profile on,” she said.
“I am really excited for the coming weeks and to have this opportunity to perform alongside very talented musicians.”
In 2023, Effie won the Star of the Cowboys and Heroes Festival. She has also released two singles which have accumulated more than 100,000 views on social media.
Glór Tíre will be presented by Aoife Ní Thuairsig and judged by RTÉ Raidio na Gaeltachta’s Jó Ní Chéide and Caitriona Ní Shuilleabháin. They will be joined by guest judges Eddie Rowley from the Sunday World and the editor of RSVP Country, Trudi Lalor.
