Gardaí have called off the search for missing Cork man Sean O'Rourke after his body was discovered on Monday.

Mr O'Rourke, who was 48 years old, had been missing from his home in Bishopstown since Friday, May 15.

Speaking to The Echo, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that following the discovery of a man's body, "the missing person appeal in respect of Sean O'Rourke has been stood down".

“Gardaí would like to thank the media and public for their assistance," the spokesperson added.
