Man given suspended sentence at Cork District Court for fifth theft conviction

A 26-year-old man convicted of theft for the fifth time was given a two-month suspended jail term as the judge warned: “He needs to get back on track and put his offending behind him.”
This was the warning Judge Mary Dorgan gave to Arun Rostas of 50 Orchard Court, Blackpool, Cork, at Cork District Court.
Sergeant Pat Lyons said the accused was caught stealing an assortment of grocery items and placing them in his backpack.
The crime was committed on October 18 2022 at Centra on South Douglas Road, Cork.
Defence solicitor, Daithí Ó Donnabháin, submitted that the defendant pleaded guilty to the offence, he had not been in trouble for some time and had brought €70 cash to court to compensate the store in full.
