Starbucks set to open a new café in Ballincollig; their ninth Cork outlet

COFFEE giant Starbucks is continuing its expansion in Cork with a new store in Ballincollig.

It will be the ninth outlet opened by the American chain in just three years in Cork.

Starbucks this week posted a job ad looking for experienced shift supervisors for a new outlet in Ballincollig.

While it does not list where the new branch will be, it is understood that it has been earmarked for the Coach House at the entrance to the Ballincollig Shopping Centre.

No date has been given for the opening of the new outlet.

Planning permission was sought by the operators of the centre, Carbon Construction (BTC) Ltd, to convert the coach house from a retail unit to a café and coffee shop.

They noted that the café would revitalise the plaza and utilise a currently unoccupied building in the recently renamed Castle West Shopping Centre in the busy town.

Permission was granted for the change by Cork County Council in February.

The Coach House is part of a protected structure which was constructed in the early 19th century.

Starbucks currently operates stores on Patrick St, Prince's St and Opera Lane in the city centre.

It also has branches in Mahon Point, City Gate, Blackpool, Douglas and One Albert Quay.
