Searches of the River Lee amid reports of someone struggling in the water

Emergency services were deployed in the city last night amid reports of a woman in the River Lee

A number of units from Cork City Fire Brigade, An Garda Síochána, and the National Ambulance were called to the river at George's Quay at around 10pm after members of the public reported seeing a person in the water

Crew members from Crosshaven Coast Guard were also alerted and made their way to the scene.

Last night's operation failed to find anyone in the water and the operation was handed over to the Coastguard.
