Danny O'Mahony back as the head coach of UCC Demons

Former UCC Demons Head Coach Daniel O'Mahony is back as head coach of the senior team for the remainder of the 2026/27 Super League campaign.

O'Mahony returns following the sudden departure of coach Stuart Rodgers, who stepped down on Sunday after their big derby win over Ballincollig in the Super League.

O'Mahony stepped down following the final game of last season, feeling he needed a break after an intense and challenging period that followed a hugely successful spell in charge.

During his tenure, he guided UCC Demons to his first Super League title in 2025, the club's ninth that earned him Super League Coach of the Year honours, and he also led the club to National Cup success in 2024.

While few could have predicted his break would be so brief, or that the opportunity to return to the role would arise so quickly, Danny made himself available immediately once Rodgers announced his departure, and reassured the club that he is refreshed, re-energised and ready to embrace the challenge once again.

During his short hiatus he enjoyed a spell with Castlehaven GAA Club in a background capacity, an experience he believes was mutually beneficial.

O Mahony’s first game back at the helm will be a Super League clash against leaders Limerick Celtics on Saturday, November 14.
