From junior infants all the way up to senior pupils in the school, the response to the CETNS Quarantine Art Project, launched by Junior Infants teacher, Rory Ward has been incredible.

The vast array of artwork recreated, which ranges from contemporary works from the likes of street artist, Banksy, to much older works of art such as Leonardo da Vinci's Lady with an Ermine, the project underscores just how creative the students in Carrigaline are.

The project is a take on the Getty Challenge, a global initiative which has seen thousands of people worldwide reimagine their favourite works of art in new and exciting ways.

Bríd Stack, a teacher in the school, said that the project has been a lovely way for the school community to virtually come together whilst in lockdown.

"Posting the images online has been great for children who may not live close to one another to see their friends.

"It's been wonderful to see how imaginative families have been with their creations. "Even if children pick the same source images their recreations are all so different," she said.

On social media, the images created by the students at Carrigaline Educate Together NS have been lauded for their creativity.

"These are amazing! Not just great to look at, but it's really interesting how re-creating them makes me think about each piece again. Thanks for creating and sharing," one person wrote.
