A Cork man will vie to come out on top in the new season of British TV series The Apprentice, which starts next week on BBC 1.
Conor Galvin, the owner of a photobooth business, will compete in the 20th series of the show against 19 others bidding to impress the businessman Alan Sugar and secure a £250,000 investment.
Raised in Glengariff, West Cork, Mr Galvin graduated from UCD with a degree in business and law.
He describes his company, Press Print Paper, as “transforming special moments into timeless, vintage-style newspaper prints”.
The BBC show will see Mr Galvin and the other candidates undertake a series of tough tasks, including creating a children’s book, selling live on television, and hosting a corporate away day on the Red Sea in El Gouna, Egypt.
Mr Galvin has said he wants his company to become a household name and expand to London, Manchester, and Birmingham.
The 20 candidates will be whittled down over 12 episodes to a sole winner.
He said his business may be fun and light-hearted, but he is a serious candidate who is “constantly learning the tougher side of strategy, structure, and scaling”. The first episode airs on BBC1 on on Thursday, January 29.
