Court appearance for man arrested in connection with Cork stabbing

A MAN in his early 20s will appear in court today after being arrested in relation to a stabbing incident in Ballyphehane on Tuesday night.

He will appear before a special sitting of Cork District Court this morning.

A Garda spokesperson said this morning: "On Friday 10th April 2020, a man in his early 20s was arrested in connection with this incident of violent disorder and detained at Togher Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

"He has since been charged and will appear before a special sitting of Cork City District Court this morning Saturday 11th April 2020 at 11.30am."

Gardaí are investigating the serious assault of a man in his 20s and an incident of violent disorder that occurred in Pearse Square, Ballyphehane, on Tuesday night,

The man, who received a number of stab wounds, was taken to Cork University Hospital.

The incident occurred after an altercation between two groups of people in Pearse Square, a number of whom were armed with what is believed to be knives and bats.
