Pavarotti At The BBC, BBC2, 8.40pm

A celebration of some of Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti’s finest performances from the BBC archives, capturing how he became the biggest opera star of modern times. Followed at 9.40pm by Pavarotti: The Last Tenor - a documentary from 2004, three years before his death.

SUNDAY

A Rebel Education, Virgin Media 1, 8pm

New four-part documentary series filmed over the course of an academic year at Carrigaline Community School, offering a rare and powerful glimpse into the vibrant, complex, and often messy world of secondary school life in Ireland today.

MONDAY

Why Planes Crash, BBC1, regions vary

In the past year, a passenger plane skidded off the runway at Muan International Airport in South Korea, killing 179 people; a military helicopter collided with a passenger plane in Washington; and a passenger plane bound for London crashed in a built-up area near Ahmedabad airport in India. So has it just been a freak year or is there something more worrying afoot? This look at the recent spate of crashes.

TUESDAY

Obituary, RTÉ1, 10.15pm

Series two of the Irish black comedy. Elvira’s life spirals after the death of her father. As she grieves, her secrets strain her bond with Emerson. A ruthless new boss, a scheming intern, and a murder she didn’t commit push Elvira to the edge - forcing her to fight to regain control.

WEDNESDAY

Ó Mhuir Go Tír, TG4, 9.30pm

New four-part series that gives a unique insight into the modes of travel used by sea to link the islands off Ireland to the mainland from the 1950s to the present day. Set against the stunning backdrops of Oileán Chléire and Inis Arcáin in County Cork,among other islands, it features some familiar faces, including actress and Inis Mór native Fionnuala Ní Fhlaithearta, and renowned musician and singer Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich.

THURSDAY

How I Made £1 Million In 90 Days, Channel 4, 10pm

Is it really possible to get rich quick? That’s what documentary film-maker Oobah Butler is trying to find out as he sets himself the challenge of becoming a millionaire. To achieve his goal, he immerses himself in the world of investments and start-ups, meeting colourful characters who offer advice on the best ways to make money. Can he make the entrepreneurial dream a reality?

FRIDAY

Imelda May: Amhráin na nGael, RTÉ1, 8pm

In a new six-part series, singer Imelda May journeys across Ireland’s Gaeltacht regions to challenge her relationship with the Irish language through songs and sean-nós singing. She starts in Dublin’s Liberties, where she meets her sisters and award-winning sean-nós singer Lillis Ó Laoire, who is her guide, with Liam Ó Maonlai on hand for creative advice.
