“IT was a Cork wedding from start to finish... We would not change one thing if we were to do it all again.”

So said bride Vicky McNamara, who married Will Horgan recently.

The bride said: “Our parents Valerie, Frank, Margaret and Noel played a main part in the whole wedding and they brought so much fun and buzz to the whole build-up, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.”

Vicky is from Montenotte, and Will is from Blackrock, they now live on the Boreenmanna Road, with their three children, Macy, Charlotte and Billy.

The bride said: “Every single one of our guests brought something to our big day and we will be forever grateful for the fun and laughter they brought along the way. We have the best family and friends in the world.”

Vicky recalled how she and Will first met.

“I was working in the dentist in Mount Oval and the internet crashed. I rang eircom to come and fix it - damsel in distress - my knight in shining armour came through the door to fix it, as he worked in eircom at the time.

“Not only did I get the internet fixed, I also came away with my husband.”

She continued: “Our engagement story isn’t one of fairy-tales. It was Christmas morning and I was holding a black bag cleaning up the rubbish from the kids’ Christmas presents when I looked behind me to Will who was styling a ridiculous elf pjs. I thought he was helping me with the cleaning to find him down on one knee with a Keanes box in hand!

“I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry – it was us down to a T. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. (Fireworks would have been nice!).”

They were married in the Honan Chapel in UCC in a black tie event. The bride’s dress was from Say I Do in Midleton and suits were rented from Tom Murphy on Patrick Street. The bridesmaids wore dresses from Folkster.

The bridal party was made up of family and friends who helped in the run up to the wedding day, including Vicky’s sister Jennifer and two best friends, Megan and Aisling – they even organised a hen party in Spain.

“We made memories that will last a lifetime,” said Vicky, who added that her three other sisters, Alison, Karen and Chelsea, all rowed in too when she needed them.

The bridal party’s hair was done by the talented Cathyanne Bridal. Make-up was by the equally talented Kate Noonan.

Flowers were by The Floral Vine, Sinead Dwyer in Kinsale.

Will’s sister Jessica and her husband Andrew flew all the way in from Dubai – they almost didn’t make it over in a big storm.

The reception was held in the Maryborough Hotel and Spa. The Pat Fitz band got the party started by singing their first dance, Dreams, by Gabrielle. That was followed by DJ Dave Daly.
