ALTHOUGH they went to school together, it was Tinder that brought this couple together. Tamara O’Donoghue Cope and David Murray grew up in Blarney and went to the same school.
They now live in Watergrasshill and are building a new home in the Blarney area.
Tamara explained. “We went to school together and had classes together but we didn’t run in the same circles. It was actually Tinder that brought us back together while we were in college and the rest is history!”
They were engaged in Killaloe on January 7, 2022.
“We went away for our fifth anniversary and David had set up a gorgeous surprise engagement in the room in the Lakeside Hotel. We kept it a big surprise and told no-one until we got home two days later,” she said.
They were married on September 15, 2023, in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Blarney.
Tamara said: “We are so lucky that our entire family was able to attend including all eight grandparents. David’s goddaughters were our flower girls with one even travelling from New Zealand to be part of our special day.
“We had family come from the UK, America, New Zealand and all over Ireland to celebrate with us. It was absolutely magical to have everyone come together for the first time in years.”
Fr Michael Fitzgerald made the ceremony so special and engaging.
They had their reception in the Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig.
“We are so thankful to Kirsty, our wedding co-ordinator, who ensured the day ran so smoothly alongside James, the manager, who couldn’t have done enough for us.”
Jukebox Heroes (formerly The Love Bugs) played that night.
“They were absolutely incredible and made everything so personal.”
The couple’s first dance was to The Wonder Of You by Elvis Presley.
As to what was most memorable about the day?
“How smoothly everything ran, despite the pouring rain. We were surrounded by the most amazing people and everything was made so easy for us,” the bride said. “The speeches were a big highlight also and something that we will be looking back on for many years to come.”
They had a caricature artist (Mark Heng) as entertainment for the night, a massive hit!
The couple were full of praise for photographer John Sexton.
“He made everything so much fun and made us feel like naturals.”
